Trigger Identification: Identifying and recognizing the specific triggers that can cause an allergic reaction or worsen respiratory symptoms in individuals. Triggers can vary from person to person and may include allergens such as Dustmite, House dust, environmental Seasonal Changes, Rainy Season Asthma aggravation, Fungus allergy, irritants Smoke & Fumes, or strong odors. Medicine induced, Exercise, and occupational, pollen, pet dander, certain foods. Identifying triggers is important in managing allergies and respiratory conditions, as it allows individuals to take preventive measures or avoid exposure to these triggers.
Trapping the Trigger: Once the triggers have been identified, trapping the trigger involves taking measures to minimize or eliminate exposure to them, like washing bedsheets, and pillow covers in boiling water to get rid of dust mites. To keep woolen clothing in the fridge, which cannot be boiled, vacuum cleaners to reduce dust and dander, or create a pet-free zone in the house for individuals with pet allergies.
Allergy Testing:. The testing can be done through, skin prick tests, blood tests (specifically IgE antibody tests), or patch tests. These tests help identify allergens by measuring the immune system's response to different substances. By pinpointing the specific allergens, healthcare providers can develop appropriate treatment plans and provide advice on trigger avoidance.
Immunotherapy: Immunotherapy, also known as allergy shots or allergen immunotherapy, is a long-term treatment option. It involves administering regular injections of small amounts of allergens over a period of time, gradually increasing the dose. The goal is to desensitize the immune system to allergens and reduce the severity of allergic reactions. Immunotherapy can be effective in managing allergies caused by common environmental allergens, such as pollen, dust mites, or certain molds.
Strengthening Lung Capacity: Strengthening lung capacity refers to exercises and techniques aimed at improving the overall function and endurance of the lungs. Incentive spirometer, Accapela, IMT Inspiratory muscle training, This is particularly beneficial for individuals with respiratory conditions such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Aerobic and anaerobic exercise, candle blowing, single breath count, inspiratory hold maneuvers, and expiratory exercises. Respiratory muscle building focuses on strengthening the muscles involved in the process of breathing. such as the diaphragm and intercostal muscles. Techniques may include deep breathing exercises, pursed-lip breathing, or using devices like inspiratory muscle trainers. Building respiratory muscle strength can help improve lung function, increase the efficiency of breathing, and enhance respiratory endurance, which is beneficial for individuals with respiratory conditions or those looking to improve their overall respiratory health.
Paediatric Asthma: Asthma in children is not the same as asthma in adults. While adults show some of the typical symptoms such as breathlessness, wheezing, coughing and chest tightness, children may not show the same kind of symptoms. Most asthmatic children will have cough as the prominent symptom. A persistent cough, one that lasts for more than 3-4 weeks, could be an indicator of asthma in children.
